Michelle has 26 years experience of working with adults with learning disabilities. She has qualification and diplomas in health & social care including her NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care. Michelle is responsible for organising relevant training, safeguarding and linking in with other professionals in this field. Michelle has been a Unison union rep and has completed all the relevant training in this area so she is able to advise on employment matters. Michelle oversees almost every aspect of the business to ensure that everything is kept in check and running efficiently. Generally she is needed to ensure the financial stability of the company and is always finding ways to help the company grow and progress.
Michelle has 20 years experience in supporting people with learning disabilities. She helps people reach their full potential. Michelle is working with Life Ways, Affinity Trust, Bradford and Leeds Adult Services, Supported Lives, Children’s Services and Mental Health teams to provide excellent service for everyone at SORM. Michelle is qualified in Health and Social Care (Level 2 and 3). Michelle is also qualified in LDAF (Learning Disabilities Awards Framework). She is an emergency first aider and has qualifications in Food Hygiene, Health and Safety and Safeguarding.

Will Long Music Facilitator/Drum Teacher. Will has been playing drums for over 20 years, and has had formal lessons from age 6, way before he got his first drum kit aged 12. He has studied Music Performance at degree level at The Academy Of Contemporary Music in Guildford, and has been teaching drums privately for the last 5 years. Will plays in Bradford alt-rock band Trigger Thumb, as well as many sessions over the years including support acts for James Blunt and Texas. He also regularly plays in wedding/function bands. Other than music, Will has worked in social care for 7 years, mainly with adults with autism and learning disabilities, and has a keen interest in health and fitness.
Lewis has been playing instruments since the age of 11. He has a degree in music technology from the university of Salford and has been producing music for 7 years. He teaches music production and lessons in guitar, drums and piano.
Jo has a first class honours degree in Counselling and Psychology in Community Settings and was introduced to the SORM Family though her degree work placement, becoming a full time member of the team in September 2021. She has a varied background in people management, safeguarding and supporting people roles including Youth Work, West Yorkshire Police, the Probation Service and Calderdale College. Jo runs our Into Employment Programme which supports young adults with disabilities in becoming work ready through a mix of education, social activities and work placements. Jo is currently studying NVQ level 3 Assessor and will then be moving onto a NVQ Level 3 in management to take her knowledge further.
Patrick O’Neill is the Education Coordinator here at SORM. He is in charge of the day to day running of the education side of the business. He works closely with the managers and directors of SORM and is currently studying an NVQ level 4 Moderators course. In his spare time Patrick has been involved in multiple band projects and likes to spend time producing solo projects.
Duane has been involved in the Bradford Music scene since 14 years old. An MC as part of a collective then decided to split off and concentrate on DJ and production and has never looked back. Specialising in Urban electronic music such as House, Garage, Grime & Bassline, Duane has has music signed to various labels and has music in worldwide stores under the name Dubz UK. Professionally, Duane has spent the last 5 years working on behalf of the local council as a family support worker dealing with issues such as crime, education, mental health and financial hardship. This support role means that he has a lot of experience dealing with family issues and uses a whole family approach. Now managing SORM, Duane still uses his skills from his support role to support our clients, parents and carers to make sure they get the best experience from our service and are well looked after.
Jodie has 5 years’ experience working with adults and children with learning disabilities, she is a qualified business administrator and is trained in safeguarding adults. Here at SORM, Jodie is our team leader and works closely with manager and directors in regards to new business, she organises tours and taster sessions for any new clients and helps with transition process. Jodie also works closely with the education side of the business and is currently studying NVQ level 3 Assessor and will then be moving onto a NVQ Level 3 in management to take her knowledge further.

SORM is available to hire as a full space as a recording and rehearsal space, but also as a space for your conference or event. Our newly renovated main space can provide a great base for all manner of projects and we’re happy to work with you to make this a success.

Our venue comes with a full speaker and lighting system, so we can cater for bands, DJs, presentations and anything else you can throw at us; included in your package will also be a sound engineer to help with your event, and we can offer event management services for an extra cost.
We have a full stocked bar, and with enough time can make sure you event runs exactly as you want it to and we can organise drinks receptions, one off themed cocktails and anything else you can imagine to make your event unique.
We love the weird and wonderful, so please don’t hesitate to contact us with any venue hire queries. Our staff will be happy to answer any questions and we’re sure we can make your celebration exactly what you want it to be.
SORM studios have four fully equipped purpose built practise and rehearsal rooms. All our rooms are approximately 200 square feet in size, fully soundproofed and carpeted and have ample room for even the largest of bands. Each room comes equipped with back line, basic drum kit and PA at no extra cost. We also have a roomy and comfortable chill out area where bands are able to work on projects prior to going into practise.
The studio is on ground level and offers easy access for loading and unloading of equipment with parking directly outside the building.
Our small kitchen area with microwave and kettle is available for bands to use, and we have a good selection of drinks and snacks available from the bar.
SORM offers a small retail shop where everything from guitars, leads, strings and drum sticks can be bought at low prices, but if we don’t have anything available to buy, just ask and we will do our best to make sure you have everything you need for a productive rehearsal.
We have a staff member on site at all times during your rehearsal, so if you need anything at all during your time with us, we can be on hand to help.
Every recording session at SORM is run by one of our experienced studio engineers who will talk through the whole process with you. Our studio engineers have worked on a vast range of projects, spanning from simple band demos to high end movie specification deals with Universal Music.
If you have a project you’re working on, we’d love to discuss your project, no matter how big or small. We are musicians too so we take an interest in what type of music you’re wanting to record, how many tracks and how many instruments need recording. We’re all about making sure that you can achieve whatever you want to whether wanting a live demo or a polished mix with individual recordings.
Recording rates are set at £20.00 per hour and we require a minimum of 3 hours per recording session to ensure we can get everything set up and have a productive session.
Please note, recording sessions will only be booked once a £25 deposit has been paid. This can be paid over the phone, in person or via bank if needed.
Our studios needed a revamp so that we could better house all of our services, delivery and people! We secured the funding, drew up the plans and since March 2020 we have been working hard to bring you a new studio that’s ready to meet the needs of everyone who works and creates here!
During Lockdown, we’ve taken the time to make sure that our buildings and facilities are ready to welcome everyone back. We are proud and pleased that our studio in Bradford has had a full revamp and we’ve been able to raise the funds to have a lift installed which we so desperately needed; our studio is now fully accessible.
Music Activity/Support Worker
Mikey has worked for 3 years at SORM, specialising in live instrumentation. Instrument include guitar bass and drums. Mikey has previous experience working as a mentor promoter and producer. He has recorded and released music worldwide under various aliases. He is also a former scratch DJ, collaborating with various hip hop acts. Mikey has always played a big role in producing and promoting music the local music scene. He has also played in various hardcore punk and Psychedelic rock bands.

Ben has been coming to SORM since it first opened. He started attanding at 15, playing in bands, as a supported member. and has very recently become a full time permanent member of our #SORMFamily. Ben has drummed in bands such as SORM Rockers, Reject Renegades and The Positives. His current band is The Dead Rejects. Ben works at the studio, helping keep it clean, tidy and reducing any chance of COVID. He works as a drum tech at live shows such as Nice n Sleazy.
Tom has been working for SORM full time since October 2019. He works on reception as well as works in admin support. Tom performs regularly with Moorley Amateur Opera Society, where is has played a pirate in Peter Pan, as well as performed in the chorus, singing and dancing in many shows including Cinderella and Fiddler On the Roof. Although due to COVID, Tom misses performing in the group. Tom used to play drums in the band Ultimate Thunder, and still plays drums in the studio.

Kate joined SORM during the COVID-19 response and then we simply couldn’t get rid of her. Kate can normally be found touring as a vocalist with Masters of the Scene – The Story of ABBA and Rock n Roll Dreams Came True – Meat Loaf the Show when she’s not in Wonderland stomping about as The Queen of Hearts. This year, Kate’s been fortunate enough to work on ACE funded Ladybones as their Company Manager as well as ACE funded In Her Own Words Kate graduated from Staffordshire University with first class honours in Drama, Performance and Theatre Arts, but when she isn’t at the studio she can be found dealing with a different kind of drama at the North West Ambulance Service as an Emergency Call Handler.
Rebecca is a visual and multi-media artist, qualified in Fine Art and Youth and Community Development. She has delivered a wide range of diverse projects with young people and community groups for the past 20 years and specializes in murals, film-making, performance, visual arts and arts development projects. Rebecca is the founder and director of Void Arts Ltd, an independent youth arts organisation and works in partnership with many Bradford organisations, including Youth Services, schools and charities. Rebecca also has experience in music; singing, performing and song writing in her own band, as well as creating band visuals and projections for her own performances, as well as for other musicians.
Andrew graduated from University of Huddersfield with a 1st Degree in Music Technology and Popular Music. Since then he successfully run a commercial online record label. Andrew is currently working as a freelance music producer, writing music for Universal Music Publishing, Dynamic Music and Sentric Music to name a few. His music has been used by Sky Sports, ITV, BBC and many other commercial broadcasters around the world. At SORM, Andrew works as the sound engineer and music producer for the bands and artists, as well as stepping up during the COVID-19 crises to . He is also a group mentor for the National Citizen Service students.
Also known as ‘The Beast’ because of his heavy drumming and sheer strength. He has played in UK touring bands for years. He works as a drum teacher and roadies for festivals around the UK.
Dorzi is a UK Rapper/Singer/Songwriter from Bradford,West Yorkshire. Known for his energetic live performances Dorzi has headlined at many of the big Northern Nightclub events such as Niche (Sheffield) ,Casaloco (Leeds) and B-Line (Bradford). He has also performed several times at the massive MOVEMENT event and and at the UK’s number one night club The Syndicate in Blackpool to name only a few . Dorzi has influenced and inspired many of the younger up and coming M.C.’s in his hometown , either directly or indirectly influencing the styles of many through his House & Bassline collaborations with various local Producers & Artists Such as TS7, Tom Zanetti, Bad Boy Chiller Crew, Big Ang & Katie May to his own hip hop influenced songs “That’s How it is” and “CheekySmile”.
Stephen has over 25 years as a musician, playing bass and guitar. He runs workshops repair and maintenance for studio equipment.
Jack has been drumming for over 13 years. He has level 1 and 2 Diploma in music. Jack is a keen and fearless skateboard and enjoys gaming in his spare time. While working at SORM, Jack has been trained to deal with anaphylactic shocks, mental capacity training and safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
James graduated from Leeds Beckett University with a 2:1 in Music Production and Performance (Popular Music), since then he has gone on to work freelance as a Sound Engineer and Music Producer and Session Musician. James is proficient in many contemporary styles of music and guitar. James has been working alongside artists and bands from all over the country. Here at SORM, James works as one of our guitar tutors as well as being a sound engineer and music produce specialising in jazz and rock recordings.
Leigh is a professional musician and experienced drummer having played for over 30 years. Music has been and is a huge part of his life having played with some fabulous people and excellent musicians. Leigh regularly does session work and has played on over 30 albums and has recorded in a multitude of studios, as well as recording his own albums and co-producing/engineering many others. Leigh regularly plays at festivals and other venues with his 9 piece original reggae band, Pepperjam and has toured all over Europe and the UK. Leigh teaches drums to a high level, having gained experience at the Northern Drum centre. To say music is his passion is an understatement.
‘The feeling of community, the excitement of the performance, the sense of achievement, the social aspect, the travel possibilities and hopefully financial opportunities all add up to what I have experienced in the music industry. I remember the spark that started it all for me and my hope is that I can ignite that in others by teaching what I have learnt, here at SORM’
John has been a drummer & percussionist for over 31 years, and has a background in Jazz, jazz fusion and classic rock. John has worked on many projects over the years from doing session work across the region to band projects such as the cellar Rats, Dead Futures, and more recently, Bradford Punk band The Negatives. John is a qualified Youth & Community Development Worker and brings 12 years in youth work and has worked on detached and outreach projects in Texas USA, and most areas across our region. John brings his experience in working with some of the most hard to reach young people. John also holds qualifications in drum & alcohol counselling, homeless advice and learning disabilities awards framework.
Tony has been a musician for the past 26 years and has toured all over the world. Tony has worked on various projects such as MELT, STUTTER, and now more recently Bradford Punk bands The Negatives. Tony brings to the company his vast experience in working in product and retail development, project management and general management. He has worked in a management capacity for big names such as Project Khan, Seabrook Crisps & Taylors Timber. Tony has qualifications in Youth Work. He also has experience in Human Resources through Citation.
